Timber Trail has two separate entry points into the BWCA within a mile of the lodge into South Farm Lake, and the Kawishiwi river. We maintain ice roads, snowmobile trails, walking paths and dog sled trails to, and into the Boundary Waters and National Forest. We want to make a winter Wilderness adventure possible for everyone.

The Adventure House is a custom-built warming house on a sleigh! Fitted with a big bay window, cozy seating, solar powered charging and hot water carafe for warm beverages, a fold out sleeping space, and a porta potty.

Enjoy gazing at the stars overnight or… ski, hike, fish, read a book, snowshoe or peacefully gaze while surrounded by BWCA wilderness during the day.

You can also request our portable sauna, larger porta potty and portable fire grates to make a truly unique experience!

Many people like to pull a sled into the BWCA to hike, snowshoe, ski, or fish while day camping. Our staff will provide maps to find good fishing and day camping spots. We also have day camping kits you can rent. The kits include a sled, camp chairs, camp stove, espresso maker, smore/hot-dog sticks, and some dry wood.

Timber Trail also has a network of winter fishing guides that can elevate your experience, from dog-sledding to Snow-mobile, to the Snow-Bear enclosed experience.
